Shpjegimi

'used to + folje bazë' përshkruan zakone ose gjendje të së shkuarës që nuk vlejnë më: I used to smoke, but I stopped.

Në mohim dhe pyetje përdoret 'did', dhe 'used' kthehet në 'use': I didn't use to like coffee. Did you use to play football?

Mos e ngatërro me 'be used to + -ing', që do të thotë 'jam mësuar me diçka': I am used to waking up early.
